Instant Global Reach to 615+ Locations

Edgegap's regionless edge network allowed TyGames to deploy dedicated game servers worldwide at a single price, ensuring players across all regions could jump into gladiatorial combat without the latency issues that plague peer-to-peer connections, critical for a skill-based PvP experience where every frame and input matters.

Scalable Infrastructure for a Small Team

As a lean studio, TyGames needed a backend that required zero infrastructure management. Edgegap's fully automated orchestration handled server deployment on-demand, letting the team focus on refining Rise of a Legend's combat systems and Ludus management mechanics rather than DevOps.

The Studio

TyGames LLC is an indie studio behind Rise of a Legend, a third-person gladiatorial action RPG that blends intense PvP arena combat with deep fighter management. Players own and operate a Ludus, training gladiators, managing resources, and sending fighters into brutal online matches where defeat can be permanent.

The Challenge

Rise of a Legend's PvP combat demanded reliable, low-latency dedicated servers from day one. Peer-to-peer networking was never an option for a game where skill-based melee combat requires tight synchronization, as any desync or lag translates directly into unfair outcomes in the arena. As a small team, building and maintaining their own server infrastructure was equally out of reach, making the choice of a simple, proven orchestration platform essential.

The Solution

Edgegap's regionless edge network gave TyGames instant access to 615+ locations worldwide at a single, universal price point. Rather than choosing between cost and coverage, the team could deploy dedicated servers at the optimal location for every match automatically, keeping latency low for players regardless of where they were fighting from. For a PvP game where a split-second input can determine life or death in the arena, that consistency in online performance was non-negotiable.

Beyond performance, Edgegap's just-in-time orchestration meant TyGames never had to pre-warm servers or pay for idle capacity. Servers spun up on-demand when players needed them and shut down immediately after, keeping infrastructure costs predictable and proportional to actual usage. For an Early Access title growing its player base, that flexibility made scaling feel effortless rather than expensive.

Perhaps most importantly for an indie studio, getting there required very little effort. Edgegap's intuitive API, comprehensive documentation, and engine-native integrations meant TyGames could go from zero to fully operational dedicated servers in days rather than months, without dedicated backend engineers or deep infrastructure expertise. That speed of integration meant more time in the arena and less time in the backend.
